There are times in life when we feel like we are all alone; times when we are facing a challenge or struggle and the weight of it is overwhelming. Other times we are just in need of a little encouragement and inspiration. In these moments it is so important to feel the love and support of family and friends. A simple reminder can make the difference in how well we cope.
Today, my neighbor Angela came to the door with a cluster of stunning little pink tulips in a white pitcher. The presentation was simple, yet utterly charming. She and I share a love of flowers and she will often send over a bouquet from her yard or some she picked up at the grocery store. We have developed a dear friendship over the years that is a treasure to me, and it all started with little acts of Goodness like this. We watch out for each other, lend a cup of sugar, feed each other’s pets, and share our hearts with each other. We have a box of Kleenex tucked away for those days when the world is “too much with us” and a couch visit is required.
Angela’s gift lifted me today. She had no idea that I was feeling fatigued and in need of inspiration, but she knows that Beauty, Trueness, Love, and Life-giving things are the building blocks of Goodness. Her gift of Beauty lifted me and gave me courage. It reminded me that I am loved and valued. That reminder can change the way you look at the world! Angela’s act of Goodness was life-giving – it gave me a boost of life and now I am able to share that with someone else.
Never underestimate the power you have to impact the people around you. Your ability to share Goodness makes you an influencer. Look for ways to share what you have inside with others. Be brave and bold enough to risk it. Reach out!
Who is that person in your life that needs a special reminder? Do you have a child going off to college, a friend who is ill, or a sister far away? Is there someone who just needs to hear those three important words? Think about a way you can let them know that you are there for them. Consider a physical reminder, something they can see and touch. Make them a special little something, or send them a gift as a reminder of how special they are. Find a way to encourage them; it just might make all the difference.
Meri Lee and I have a gift that we both wear; a You Are Loved necklace designed by Meri. It has become a part of our daily lives and offers us support and encouragement from each other. We have walked through many difficult challenges together from cancer to financial calamity. Through each challenge we have been there to uplift and encourage each other. Even now, when I am facing a challenge, I find myself reaching for my necklace to remind me that Meri Lee is in my corner. It offers me so much comfort. Maybe this is the charming reminder you are looking for. You can find it in our store.
Hint: Meri Lee and I have added other charms as the years have passed. This necklace has become a record of our friendship and devotion. You might like to do that too!
